Spring/Summer Maintenance Checklist
When it comes to home ownership, regular maintenance is the most important thing to keep up with on a regular basis. If you devote the time to stick to a regular home maintenance schedule, you can save yourself a LOT of time and money in the long run by preventing small problems from becoming big ones.
As we gear up for summer, start planning on some weekend maintenance projects. Here is our list of Home Maintenance things to tackle during the Spring and Summer months.
- Clean, repair or replace storm doors and windows, and screens.
- Have your air conditioning serviced by a licensed technician.
- Check your ceiling fans.
- Clean gutters, downspouts and storm drains.
- Check the rooms for leaks.
- Weatherproof the deck for the summer.
- Walk around the exterior of your house and look for mildew, mold, or fungus. Pressure wash these areas as well as sidewalks & driveways.
- Repair cracks in the driveway, walkways or patio.
- Check siding on the house, filling holes or replacing caulk.
- Paint trim/exterior of house if necessary.
- Have interior carpets cleaned, caulk bathrooms, polish wooden cabinets in kitchen or baths.
- Check for proper operation of exterior landscape lighting as well as spotlights & front door lighting that allows guests to gain entry in a well lighted, safe way.
- Pool owners should have pool serviced, and the liners & filters checked.
- **Hint: Monitor evidence of mold & mildew. If it continues to reappear in the same place, that is a sign of a deeper problem and that should be addressed immediately.
