Smyrna, GA is an incorporated city of about 50,000 residents located just 13 miles northwest of Atlanta. It conveniently sits at the intersection of two major thoroughfares - I-75 on the east and I-285 on the south - allowing commuters easy access to the city, the airport, and Buckhead in 20-30 minutes. It is governed by a Mayor and Council, and the councilperson that represents your ward will probably recognize your address and know who lived there before you.
Long a bedroom community for Lockheed Martin, Smyrna has grown into a city that is home to small businesses that are growing (Kenny's Key Lime Pies), satellite offices for large corporations (IBM), and mom & pop shops and restaurants most often owned by residents of Smyrna.
The beautiful Market Village, which offers the Community Center, the Smyrna Library (the largest in the state), City Hall, and the Village itself, has acted as a magnet for residents. People meet at the Community Center to workout in the public gym and indoor walking track, they play basketball and volleyball, and they play pool in the game room. The Community Center is also the center of activities sponsored by the city - the arrival of Santa, the free summer concerts, the Jonquil Festival, and the Taste of Smyrna. The Memorial Park is used to honor those who served. See a full list of Smyrna Parks here.
The Smyrna Market Village, the West Village, and One Ivy Walk offer a variety of restaurants and shopping. Choose from burgers & pizza to crepes or BBQ. Apecialty shops and boutiques feature home furnishings & accessories, fashion, and fun gifts. But don't think Smyrna doesn't offer every department store there is, because we do. They are all close by.
And with all of that, don't miss out on the Silver Comet Trail which can take you from here to Birmingham on your legs or on your bike. Sidewalks throughout the city connect you to the trail.
The City Government has created a sense of Community here. It's enjoyable to live here, enjoyable to work here and we'd like you to be here too!
